Operation Paperback redux this Memorial Day weekend

When Recycled Reads opened for business last Saturday, so did the skies all over Austin. Mother Nature gave us a long overdue and much needed downpour that morning, but it did not deter a dedicated group of students from doing their part to support Operation Paperback (see this post for details).

Students Make Bookmarks for Operation Paperback

This group of young artists spent all morning creating bookmarks to accompany the books which are donated to Operation Paperback by generous Recycled Reads customers. Every book that we pass on to the troops will have one of these colorful bits of hand-made laminated art inserted in its pages. Every bookmark is a one-of-a-kind creation and each one carries a bit of home to those who miss it most.

A little bit of Austin for the troops

For just $1, you too can give one of our brave men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces something to read while they try to relax after duty. For your convenience we have placed several carts of newer paperbacks near the checkout counter. All you have to do is make your selections, make your purchase and drop the books in either of the bins beside the counter. It couldn’t be easier!

It is no coincidence that Memorial Day is one week after Armed Forces Day. Please take a moment of your time this weekend to show your support for the troops by donating a book to Operation Paperback.
